Law Society Changes Name

<?php echo get_the_title();?> | Goldhart Family Law

In late 2017, the governing body for Ontario lawyers changed its name from “The Law Society of Upper Canada” to “The Law Society of Ontario”.
This name change was the result of the following 2 events:

1. An independent research study that concluded that the previous name caused confusion (including about the Law Society’s mandate); and
2. A survey amongst lawyers and the public indicating an 83% majority for the name “The Law Society of Ontario” over the other names proposed.

As with both names, it is common for lawyers and the public alike to use the shortened “Law Society” title.
